Defendants are often given the chance at the first hearing to plead guilty or nolo contendere to offenses they THINK are small. However, if the defendant is an immigrant – NO CASE IS A SMALL CASE. |

As of this writing, much has been said to underscore the inspirational election of Barak Obama as the 44th President of the United States. The importance of the Latino vote keeps popping up in the news. It was, in my humble opinion, vital to Obama's victory, and it could represent a watershed moment for Latinos and the nation. |

En octubre la Oficina Ejecutiva de Revisión de Inmigración (Executive Office of Immigration Review) anunció que doce nuevos sitios de "Programas Legales de Orientación (LOP)" estarán operando en Diciembre. Estos programas servirán sin costo a los no-ciudadanos detenidos. Proporcionarán orientación e información legal con respecto a Actos de Remoción (deportación), derechos y opciones legales de los individuos y grupos. Los 12 nuevos sitios del programa estan situados en las facilidades de detención de: Florence, Ariz.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Miami, Fla.; Lumpkin, Ga.; Jena, La.; Newark, N.J.; Chaparral, N.M.; Leesport, Pa.; Raymondville, Texas; and Farmville, Portsmouth, and Hanover.
